Indian Oil Corporation Limited has been embracing the technologies as per the global trends for improving the productivity and efficiency. Being the first mover of the industry we have installed best of automation processes, latest Gadgetries and have already embarked on the digital transformation journey by kick starting SMART Terminal Concept. Consequentially activities at Oil Terminals have changed from Operation Centric to Maintenance centric. Maintenance of these SMART infrastructures is going to be a major challenge. The main idea behind organizing this conclave is to brainstorm the future strategy for maintenance and sustainability of these SMART Infrastructures as we graduate from Preventive maintenance to Predictive maintenance regime.

Today, IoT is the next major step being envisaged in the oil and gas industry. For Predictive maintenance of SMART infrastructure, data will have to flow in real time and seamlessly from field to boardrooms with data analytics which will provide decision support systems. This will also enable better optimization of processes, predictive maintenance and a safer working environment.

In Tandem, SUMMIT – 2018 strives to discuss the way forward for this digital transformation journey for Oil industry in general and Marketing Bulk Oil terminals in particular.

The aim of the congregation is to share the latest trends on digitization, latest developments and innovative applications from Industry context for Downstream Supply Hubs in particular. A confluence of conventional maintenance practices with latest digital trends like IoT, Smart Asset Management, Data Transaction and Analytics.

This Conclave will facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas, a platform to interact with eminent Speakers and practitioners, from around the world. A colloquy, where there would be discussions among the technology providers & Oil & Gas Industry experts for for paving the way forward.

In Tandem Summit. Digital Transformation for Competitive Edge

Chairman's Message

Sanjiv Singh
Chairman, IndianOil

  • The art of maintenance transforms chaos into order. We can master this art only through systematic and continuous efforts. Further, it calls for the right skills and a thorough knowledge of the equipment and its ecosystem. Modern machines demand a deeper understanding of the underlying technology that makes them tick. Hence, in a world where manual work is fast getting automated, mastering technology is the key to maintaining and upgrading systems.

At the outset, I compliment IndianOil’s Marketing Division for conceiving the In-Tandem Summit – 2018 with participation of industry experts focusing on a wide variety of topics related to digital technology.
The modern market-place is throwing up complex challenges.Global competition, economic and geopolitical uncertainties, new and disruptive technologies, shortened product life-cycles and changing consumer behaviour have made adoption of cutting-edge technology and process innovation a matter of survival for business entities.
Multiple emerging digital technologies are disrupting the industry value chain. Big Data, Advanced Analytics and ‘Internet of Things’are spreading their roots in India too.
Today’s business demands bold leadership and organisational capabilities to manage contradictions and pursue technology breakthroughs to proactively shape tomorrow’s innovative offerings. Only by constantly following the swift strides of technology can we hope to create a favourable environment for innovation and growth within the organisation. Understanding the best practices in the digital landscape across the global oil & gas industry is the first step in leveraging them to our advantage to stay successful and competitive.
Behind IndianOil’s growth and sustained success is its dedicated work-force and its ability to harness the latest technologies for enhanced productivity and efficiency. We have installed the best of automation and safety systems and processes at our operating locations. IndianOil’s Marketing Division has already embarked on digital transformation by kick-starting the ‘Smart Terminal’ concept. But we have much more to do in this area to reap the full dividends.
IndianOil has a proud legacy of reinventing itself at crucial junctures of its history. We are at one such phase where we are getting ready for a quantum leap in technology and innovation, and bright ideas and initiatives can accelerate and facilitate this process.
I, therefore, once again congratulate the Operations group for organizing this novel conclave and I am sure that this initiative will grow into a productive movement not only in IndianOil but across India’s oil & gas industry.
